I've made a cover for [livejournal.com profile] helenravens The Cook and The Warehouseman because I like my e-reader files with a proper cover.

The Cook and The Warehousman1

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] firlefanzines comment at my last post saying it reminded her about "Beam me up, Scotty."

Very nice! I so wish they'd hurry-up and invent a Scotty-beam! *g*

Thank you! Yes, a Scotty-beam would be wonderful! To go to all the nice places and meet all the nice people within seconds...

Yes! A very cool effect, and definitely conjures beaming.

Yay for proper--and beautiful--covers!

When I found the effect I thought "Wow, I must try this one with the Doyle picture". And when I saw the result I thought "And now I have to make a cover."

And I'm so glad you like the effect and the cover. :-)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the idea.

I thought maybe it would be possible to make a cover for every story I've read. But I think that would be a job I should do after I retired. So I have to wait some more years. *g*

Cool! I may print it out and attach it to the print zine, as its cover is so plain. But how do you attach a cover to a story in your e-reader?

Great idea and it looks good as a cover.

Thank you! Yes, printing it sounds good to me.

I'm using Calibre to attach a cover to the story. You can find it in the internet and it is freeware. It is easy to handle and you can make different sorts of ebookstyles like epub or mobi.

I have Calibre, but didn't realize that adding a cover was something that could be done. I'll have to look into it!

I don't know if it is a serious scene... but it looks both entertaining and very imaginative. I don't think I have ever seen something like that in the Pros fandom ;-)

Well... maybe Mr. Cowley isn't amused *g*.

Well, first of all I think Mr. Cowley isn't amused because he has no great scene in this novel. He has only a few sentences at the beginning and that was it.

But there IS a scene where Bodie and Doyle chat about transporters and that it is very expensive to use them. So yes, it is a serious scene for the story.

And remember, there is always a first time for everything! *g*
