Only a short story
by macklingirl

The moment Bodie woke up in his hospital bed, he knew it: Doyle was gone. He didn't know why Doyle had left; he just knew he had to find him. The only thing he could remember was the brawl in the park and three guys hitting him and kicking him the moment he went to the ground. He remembered Doyle and Murphy shouting at the attackers and then.... nothing.

When he first woke up in hospital, Doyle was there, wearing his black coat and Scottish scarf. He had said something, but Bodie couldn't remember the words. He waited five minutes after the nurse had left his room and discharged himself from the hospital. He would start the search in the park.

The moment Doyle entered Bodie's hospital room, he knew one thing for sure: Bodie was gone. The room was dark and empty, with no sound. He turned around and quickly left the hospital. He should never have agreed to Cowley's request and gone to the meeting with the minister. He had only been away for thirty minutes, and when he left, Bodie had been fast asleep. Oh, Bodie could be just a nutter when he had a concussion. He started thinking: where should he start searching? It hit him like a bolt from the blue. The park. Bodie would start his search there because that was the last place outside the hospital he had seen Doyle.

And after a short search in the park, they found each other.

Happy end.
