Moving shop
Aug. 17th, 2019 11:06 pmToday was the day one of my very good friends had to move his shop because the landlord wanted more than 80% more rent. So what did we do? We were two women and two men (one only for driving one of the cars because he is nearly 80 years old.) And we had to move more than 30 moving boxes full with stuff from his shop. Some were very light because they contained only pillows and mobile phone covers. But some were very heavy because they contained books and coal and such things.
And I felt like Bodie and Doyle in "In The Public Interest".

And even though I took a hot bath, I think tomorrow everything will hurt.

Date: 2019-08-18 03:13 am (UTC)Damn landlords upping rents. It's happened here too where a lovely little street of cafes were doing great business, so landlords increased rents, which meant loss of money for tenants, so they all ended up losing down. Greedy landlords got nothing then. *snigger*

Date: 2019-08-18 08:08 pm (UTC)You know, sometimes I wonder if the landlords don't think at all. I mean it is better to have a tenant who pays less but rents the shop year after year, than to increase the rent and have no tenant after a year. So crazy. And sad for the people who want to sit in small cafes or buy their presents in little shops.

Date: 2019-08-25 02:30 am (UTC)The rent thing is crazy. Just had a local restarunt that had been here for 20 years close because they couldn't come to terms on a new lease. And I just know that place is going to sit empty like so many others. It's really depressing.
Your pictures, however, are lovely. Really love Doyle's smile in the second one.

Date: 2019-08-25 05:49 am (UTC)Yes, it's a crazy world with the rents. I'm sure the landlord won't find another lodger because the location isn't so good and there aren't so much people crossing the place.
Thanks for liking the pictures.
