Today I finally finished my Pros corner. I bought two new shelves so that I have more room for all the zines I own. Now there is no more zine in a box, they are all out in the open. And I have a place for my wonderful Bodie and Doyle image.

All I have to do now is to make a list of which zines I own and find a way to know which zine is in which shelve. If anybody has any idea how to make it that would be great. I thought about making a list in Excel with the title of the zine, titles of the stories in the zine and the name of the author. And, of course, the number of the shelf and the zine (that is is it the fifth or the twelfth or the twenty-second in the row). Does that sound logical and feasible? How have you organized your zines?

Pictures under the cut.

Looks great! And my, what a lot of zines you have :-)
Excel is a good idea — or maybe a database — I find those easier to sort,
I have not organized my meager collection — some in drawers, some in the closet, some in boxes.
*sigh* I should treat the lads better...

Thank you. Yes, I must admit I couldn't stop buying after I got hold of the first zines. *g*

I don't know how to work with a database like Access or anything. So I think it will be Excel.

Yes, go and try to organize your collection, it is so much fun.

Boy, do I need to do that. Not only are there boxes of zines all over my room but have come into a waterfall of books in the last four months completely overwelming all available shelves.

I know the problem with books too well too. I can't throw books away so I'll have to look which I can give into one of the open bookcases we have.

How lush to spend time organising your Pros corner! And it looks good too... *vbg*

I've tried Excel spreadsheets for my collection/s in the past, but they never end up working for me - I can never quite format them the way I want, or include the right information in the right place, so I end up going back to Word and using tables in Word. The format is more flexible, and actually I find searching them much easier.

My zines are all alphabetical by title, so I can find things I want quickly. Then I just have to go through the alphabet. *g* The only thing that bugs me is that my shelves don't quite fit zine-size for all my collection, even though they're adjustable. I always end up with one shelf too small, or else zines left over. So I'm alphabetical to the end, then have to go back up the shelves to the small one, and have the rest lying down instead of standing up! But once I finish sorting the Paper Circuit library I'll have more space for another wee shelf, and then all will be good... *vbg*

Thank you, it was fun to do it.

I never worked with tables in Word, but I have to work with Excel, so maybe that would work better for me.

Alphabetical sounds like a good idea. Thanks.

Very nice corner! I bought several of these holders and then used my labeler to label each one.

Thank you very much. The only thing I managed is to sort them so that every zine series is in a row. So Chalk and Cheese is one after the other and Backtrack. But I know that I won't remember which is on which shelve after a month or two. So I really need some list.

Thanks for liking the pictures.

Wow, that's an impressive Pros collection!

I like that you have them logically organized. That would make it easy to find exactly what you wanted to read.

Hopefully you've also got a cozy chair nearby.

Thank you. I have practically inherited part of them and I bought the ones that were missing.

And I think I'll put my rocking chair nearby. So I can sit there like an old lady and read the zines. *g*
